Even when you know the trick, this is still a gobsmackingly realistic illusion.

  Mood:interesting...

In a discovery that has stunned even those behind it, scientists at a Toronto hospital say they have proof the body's nervous system helps trigger diabetes, opening the door to a potential near-cure of the disease that affects millions of Canadians.

Diabetic mice became healthy virtually overnight after researchers injected a substance to counteract the effect of malfunctioning pain neurons in the pancreas. "I couldn't believe it," said Dr. Michael Salter, a pain expert at the Hospital for Sick Children and one of the scientists. "Mice with diabetes suddenly didn't have diabetes any more."

The researchers caution they have yet to confirm their findings in people, but say they expect results from human studies within a year or so. Any treatment that may emerge to help at least some patients would likely be years away from hitting the market.

And so it was that the great council which the high and mighty Bush appointed, told him exactly what he didn't want to hear. And he roundly rejected their wise recommendations, and stayed the course - as always. Then he and his croneys began preparing a PR strategy to try and convince us, again, that we need to be in Iraq. (Well, it worked the first time, didn't it??)

So take this to the bank: As long as Dubya sits in the White House, our soldiers will never return from Iraq. Bush has been absolutely, totally consistant on this point for almost five years now, since 2002. We will be in Iraq until the end of time, if that's what it takes to occupy and slaughter them into a Democracy. (Never MIND that there's absolutely no reason at all for us to have gone there in the first place...)

You have a choice, folks. But since America is the land of cowards and weasels, I already know which one you're going to choose. So here it is: Impeach Bush, or continue to watch your soldiers die for no reason.

Edit: Also, remember that you should never listen to your soldiers. Dubya's idea of how the war is going is the ONLY one that matters - those soldiers who are actually out there on the front lines don't know squat.
