"Not an angel"

When the invitation arrived in the mail, Andrea Wachner said she was "aghast." Attend her 10-year high school reunion? Never.

Walking into a roomful of past acquaintances can elicit nail-biting anxiety, especially when the No. 1 question on everyone's lips is: "What do you do?" Wachner, a freelance comedy writer, was no exception.

So, rather than attend her reunion, Wachner, who is now 31, sent someone else in her place, a stripper, and made a documentary about it.

I'm getting flashbacks to Boulder High here... ;D

Mechwarrior total conversion mod for Crysis.

If you miss titles like MechWarrior and the latest F.E.A.R. game barely touched the sides, chances are you’ll be rather interested in an upcoming total-conversion mod for Crysis. It’s called MechWarrior: Living Legends (MWLL) and the developer is making it into one very impressive BattleMech fest. Clearly putting a lot of work into making it a fully-fledged mech title, the team goes so far as to call it a simulator.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of this when they saw Crysis. MechAssault 2 was tons of fun, and it's been too long since we had another good Mech game.

Code reviewing Wolf3D for the iPhone.

For once, developers were able to read the source code of an id software product just a few days after its release. I spent a week in my spare time reading the internal of the Wolfenstein 3D for iPhone engine. It is by far the cleanest and easiest id source code release to date.

This review is far from being exhaustive but it provides answers to a few of the questions I asked myself:

* How was the absence of direct framebuffer access addressed?
* How is the engine (ANSI C) coupled with Objective-C?
* How was the absence of Immediate mode in openGL ES addressed?
* Is NSTimer the only way to perform animation on this #*! iphone?

OF COURSE Pelosi knew we were torturing.

In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

Why do you think she doesn't support an investigation into torture now? Why do you think she took impeachment "off the table"? Why has she bowed to the NeoCons on every single issue of importance since she was elected?

OF COURSE she always knew. And she knows that she will hang along with everyone else if things come out. So she's going do to everything in her power to make sure there's no investigation, or if there is that it's got no teeth and no ability to uncover the truth.

This is how DC works, people. Always has been. Always will be.

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know what no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me."
