There was a friends-locked post a long ways back that is now open: http://mackys.livejournal.com/288298.html

Long story short, the recruiter called me up and said that MCI had decided to delete the position they were considering me for. It took them nearly two months to decide this. Hahahaha. Truly, a company one should not work for no matter what the salary.

I tried that in high school. Worked as a summer intern for NOAA. The boredom and lack of challenge and learning destroyed me. I'm not the kind of person who can be successful at a job that requires long periods of sloth. I'm just not cut out for it. It makes me insane. My gen-Y, adult ADD demands that I be actively doing something all the time. Thus, I tend to jobs that burn me out. But I choose that on purpose, consciously considering it far better that than the alternative.

It wasn't that they deleted the positon; it was that it took 'em two months to do it. That's just nutty. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I had the urge to make a snide comment about "so, does it take you two months to decide whether you're going to print someone's paycheck, too?" Heh.
