At the heart of the advertisers' argument is the much-reported propensity for DVR users to fast-forward through commercials. Some users are said to have shifted their entire TV viewing habits to best avoid exposure to ads. If they want to see something live, they prefer to start watching half an hour late, just to be able to skip commercial breaks.

It's a terrifying statistic for advertisers and networks because, "The thing that scares us most is that they say, 'When we get TiVo, we're going to skip commercials,'" said Kristi Argyilan, executive vice president of channel insight at Arnold, a Boston ad agency. And Pam McNeely, group media director at Dailey & Associates Advertising (IPG ), figures the number of installed DVRs could go to 40 percent by the end of 2007. "You tell that to clients," she says, "and they say, 'Oh, my God! I'm cutting TV spending.'"

Besides Mythbusters, I haven't seen a damn thing worth watching on TV in... at least two years. Know why viewers are walking away? Know why people are buying DVRs in droves to filter out all the crap? BECAUSE THE NETWORKS DESERVE IT!!!

Also, MySpace is not cool any more. ;]

There are other cool things out there - but most of it, IMHO, is on cable. Shows like FutureWeapons are good fun. And disaster shows like Zero Hour, Air Emergency, Seconds from Disaster, etc.

But I don't watch much off networks - the Law&Order franchise and Crossing Jordan about covers it. And the latter is purely based on lust.
