Public
  Mood:horns up head-bangin'
Music:Deathmøle - With Flowing Manes They Charge

Possibly the best thing about reading Questionable Content is that not only do I have a new source of excellent t-shirts, but I also have some new bands to check out for the first time in quite a while.

Metal/Goth:

Opeth - Blackwater Park, Deliverance, My Arms Your Hearse
Mastadon - Leviathan
The Sword - Whatever, too funny to matter

Indy:

Sigur Ros - Takk
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
Modest Mouse - ?
Mogwai - Mr Beast
The Decemberists - ?

Techno:

Vitalic - OK Cowboy

Any suggestions on what albums from Modest Mouse and The Decemberists I should try?

P.S. I think I'm going to start jogging exclusively to Deathmøle tunes. Check out the MP3 of "current music" over at the author's LJ. Must! Buy! Unicorn! Tshirt!! (Obligatory PBF comic.)

ooo-oo.. The Shins aren't country, maybe Shania Twain type but not Dolly Parton - that's cos country has gotten more pop. Definitely folksy. This lot (The Shins, DC4C, Belle and Sebastian, Postal Service, many more i don't know of) has melodious, lyrical songs with lyrics that appeal to the more intellectual teens. Ok.. maybe older too.

Cake has some really hilarious tracks!

I love Sigur Ros (mood music for forests and glaciers), the rest of the groups are interesting but not music I'd plonk mony down for.

Right now I'm gunning for Snow Patrol. I love the music, it has an airy feel with lots of texture. (I'm very spacy.)

Have you heard Maroon 5? Recent group, funky rock. Engaging. Only one album for now, so can't be too hard to check out!

Why not stay with The Perfect Circle?

Oh right, I should have specified - when I say "checking these bands out" I mean "downloading some MP3s and seeing if I like them." Hopefully there's at least a few free, legit MP3s from each band for free advertising purposes.
