#4: Free gas for everybody for 1.2 years

US drivers consume approximately 384.7 million gallons of gasoline a day. Retail prices averaged $2.64 a gallon in 2006. Breaking it down, $456 billion could buy gasoline for everybody in the United States for about 450 days.

By the way, this is only what we've spent on Iraq so far - about $450 billion. Most people up on The Hill estimate that the total cost of the unjustified invasion and bloody occupation of Iraq may end up being 2-4 times this much, or about $2 billion. How does free gas for everyone in the USA for 5 years sound?

Oh BTW, has Dubya captured or killed that guy who crashed the planes into the towers - Osama Bin Laden - yet? No?? And how are prices at the pump? Nearing record highs in absolute dollars?? Oh my...

according to this : http://morris.marginalq.com/2006-11-Davis-Heathcote-Land.paper.pdf
The aggregate value of all residential land in the US in 2002 was 6.55 trillion dollars. So you could buy almost 7% of all the residential land in the US.

The aggregate value of all farmland was 1.135 Trillion dollars. You could buy a little more than 40% of all US farmland.

That's a mighty big section right out of the middle of the country.

At a cost of about 4.5 billion dollars each, you could build 101 Nimitz class aircraft carriers. At a cost of 160 million dollars per year, you could run one Nimitz class carrier for 2850 years.

But you still can't get a decent government for that.

I am embarrassed, and I am not even American

I'm out and out ashamed of my country.

As an aside, money doesn't make the government, the people who are in positions of governance make it. We need better people.
