Real-time rendering of Doug Jones' head by NVIDIA - rendered on the new GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card.

You read that right - REAL TIME. There may be just a little bit too much specular on the model, but even so, that's one impressive demo. Another couple of orders of magnitude improvement in GPUs, and we should be able to do a whole virtual world this well.

Another very pretty Crysis video. Holy crap, is the CryEngine 2 ever ungodly. If the game is anywhere near as good as the engine, this should be the best FPS ever made.

The problem with rendering realism.. is the uncanny valley. If the animation could keep up with the shading and detail level then things would be OK but it's not.. and for some reason I get the feeling that people haven't been paying enough attention to that.

Crysis has an insane detail level.. I wonder if it'll be any fun?

Far Cry was great fun, and it had groundbreaking graphics. So Crytek can do both at the same time - they have the track record.

But nobody's really going to know for sure until we actually play it.

I feel underprivilaged for not playing Far Cry.. now I have a machine that can handle it.. but I'm past the point of caring/and or having time to care.. XD Might check it out at a later date. I don't usually play FPSs either though.

Then you probably won't like Far Cry. And by the 2007 standards, it doesn't look THAT good. Though the huge draw distance is still nice. But that's about it. By 2001-2 standards, though, it was amazing.
