This is just what I need to get WiFi going up at mom's... some yagis or directional panels and the Blue Mountain Internet CoOp could be real in very short order.

I like this concept.. I think they should start making adapters for all sorts of portable things that can plug into the solar cells.

Radio Smack used to carry these, but not any more. Too bad, they were pretty cool. You can run a lot of good stuff off 12 V / 0.15 Amp if you design the electronics carefully.

Solar panels are still very expensive, but the prices are going down. I don't think they'll ever be small enough for us to have integrated solar panels in our cell phones. But maybe sometime fourty years from now, we can all hike with flexible solar panel shirts and hats that will recharge our flashlights and radios as we walk.
