But the relentless, sustained attempt to make torture permanent part of the war-powers of the president, even to the point of abusing the law beyond recognition, removes any benefit of the doubt from these people. And they did it all in secret - and lied about it when Abu Ghraib emerged. They upended two centuries of American humane detention and interrogation practices without even letting us know. And the decision to allow one man - the decider - to pre-empt and knowingly distort the rule of law in order to detain and torture anyone he wants - is a function not of conservatism, but of fascism.

There is no doubt - no doubt at all - that these tactics are torture and subject to prosecution as war crimes. We know this because the law is very clear when you don't have war criminals like AEI's John Yoo rewriting it to give one man unchecked power. We know this because the very same techniques - hypothermia, long-time standing, beating - and even the very same term "enhanced interrogation techniques" - "verschaerfte Vernehmung" in the original German - were once prosecuted by American forces as war crimes. The perpetrators were the Gestapo. The penalty was death. You can verify the history here.

We have war criminals in the White House. What are we going to do about it?

I'm glad you asked, Andrew. Let me explain to you exactly what it is that we as Americans are going to do about it:

ABSOLUTELY. FUCKING. NOTHING.

That's right. You heard me. We, collectively, as Americans, are going to do absolutely fucking nothing about it. We are all, collectively - from the bums in the gutter, all the way up to Nancy Pelosi and every last one of the rest of the supposed "Democrats" in Congress - going to flip our TVs back on, go back to watching American Idol, and pretend that we didn't know that we invaded a country and killed tens of thousands for no reason, that we didn't know we tortured people (some to death, a few of them almost certainly innocent) for no reason, that we didn't know Osama Bin Laden - the man who staged the largest terrorist on America in history - still walks free to this very day, that ultimately we "didn't know" that we as Americans are now the moral equivalent of the "good Germans" who stood by and did nothing while Hitler waged a war of naked fascist aggression all across Europe, killing thousands based on nothing more than his own sick whims. In short, we are ALL going to close our eyes and pretend that that this whole thing never, ever happened.

And there is abso-fucking-lutely nothing that you, or anyone else, can do about it. Because this is what those insane, arrogant, power-mad, sociopaths in DC have decided to do. And if you think - if you think for one fucking second - that they give two tugs of a dead dog's cock about what you, or your neighbor, any citizen of this country, or anyone anywhere thinks about their unjustified wars of aggression, of their policies of death by torture, of their blatant and shameless destruction of our constitution and our republic... they're you're far, far stupider than I ever gave you credit for being.

Here's American Gladiators. Here's 56 fucking channels of it! GO BACK TO SLEEP!

Okay, the question finally has to be asked.

What are you doing about it?

I decided a long time ago that this country is not worth saving. I also decided that even if maybe it was worth saving, the fact of the matter is that I'm a big fat fucking coward, who doesn't have the balls to shoot Bush and Cheney in the face - which would be the correct and principled thing to do. So, being absolutely up front about my cowardice, and seeing that this country probably wasn't worth saving even if I wasn't a yellow-bellied, integrity-free quitter, I decided that there was only one option. Be true to my cowardice, and flee the country with my tail between my legs, like the dog I am.

That was at the beginning of this year. Since then, I've directed much intelligence and energy towards the goal of GTFO. Sadly, the more research I did, the more it became obvious that this wasn't something I could do quickly. Oh, I could pack my bags and stop out of the US, sure - but no other country would let me in. Which would leave me no choice but to come back! That was unacceptable. So, like a rational adult, I started making a long term plan: what do I need to do so I can GTFO... and not have to come back - ever.

At present, I am executing on that plan. It will take three to three and a half years. Which is a long time to sustain such an effort. But it's worth it. To paraphrase a credit card commercial... "Cost of getting it right? Three and half years. Being able to burn my passport and throw the ashes at the US embassy? Priceless!"

And THAT'S what I'm doing about it. Call me a coward if it makes you feel better - I won't disagree. But at least I'm an honest coward who admits he's a coward and is doing something about it... and not some pathetic, stupid, deluded Eichmann who is too comfortable in his jail cell to see the color of the bars.

Which brings me around to the point. The people that bug me the most aren't the fascists, though the fascists do annoy me. Nor is it my fellow cowards, at least not the ones who are honest enough to admit the bright-urine hue of their stomachs. The people who really piss me off are the ones I alluded to in this post. The ones who sit around, claiming they love America, claiming they're doing the right thing... but who are actually doing absolutely fucking nothing. And then those same hypocritical, deluded scum dare to try and preach to me?? It's enough to make a peace-loving man reach for his sword...

Long and short... 52% of America is only still alive because it's illegal for me to put a .45 caliber bullet in their fat, stupid heads.

Yup, emigration takes a long long time, and usually a fair bit of money too.

As far as preaching, so far you're pretty much the only one I've heard doing it. :)

And I think there's a TON of people-- myself included-- who just don't know what to do about it. If there were going to be 10 million people marching on washington to force change a la the French Revolution, guillotine and all, I'd sure love to join them. But a handful of internet malcontents really can't do anything to fix the country. And hell, even those 10 million marchers would be easy cannonfodder when push finally does come to shove.

Bottom line, there's nothing to do about it, and pointing the accusing finger and shrieking at everyone who sees no option but to sit and put up with it doesn't really help things.

That's total bullshit. They know exactly what to do - they're just fucking cowards. But unlike me, they won't admit that they're fucking cowards. Their little lives are too comfortable to risk upsetting the applecart by doing something drastic. Which they know deep down is exactly what needs to be done. Even you do - just look at that talk about a 10 million man march in your comment there.

As far as preaching, so far you're pretty much the only one I've heard doing it. :)

I'm not preaching - I'm flaming. I'm not advocating anyone take any action other than admitting the truth. That we're all a bunch of fucking running-dog fascist enablers who are too goddamn lazy to do the right thing even though we know damn well what it is.

Bottom line, there's nothing to do about it, and pointing the accusing finger and shrieking at everyone who sees no option but to sit and put up with it doesn't really help things.

Au contraire, mon ami - it makes me feel a hell of a lot better, and makes the waiting until I can GTFO this proto-fascist excuse for the ruins of a once great republic much easier.

So, here's the deal. If (and only if) someone in America - the people, the Congress, SOMEONE - shows a fucking flicker of IQ, and an ounce of intestinal fortitude, AND THEY IMPEACH BUSH... then I'll consider staying.

Anything less, and I'm right on the fuck out of here. I'm already headed in the right direction, and I can tell the train is gathering steam as it goes.

It's NOT too early to talk about open revolution. And it sure as hell isn't too late to impeach a man who continues to directly and knowingly cause the deaths of hundreds of people in Iraq every month. Especially when he (and we) know damn well that there's absolutely no reason for us to be there.

Man,

If we can't stop the impending dark age collapse of civilization, then the struggle of many generations to form a community of nation states against oligarchy, will be lost.
Raise your fight to the level of ideas, of method, like Socrates did, and your effects, even if not complete in this lifetime, will be entirely useful.
