This is misleading, especially in modern western states. This doesn't take into account the many different sexual orientations.

Besides, how does the map for Austalia look, sheep per capita?

I am also curious about that one red spot in Cali... It doesn't look like a major Cali city so I'm thinking that even 2500 more women is a decent number if the total city pop is low.

Blah, nm, then. Sacramento is large enough that 2500 isn't significant. Thanks.

Hey, hey, hey! Mr Anderson, low self-esteem Thursday is, well, tomorrow. I kindly ask that you not engage in this topic until then, thank you.

So what this tells me is...the odds are good, but the goods are odd.

(j/k, I know that the odd one here is me, but I do enjoy that joke.)

In all fairness, I am curious, when was the last time you asked a girl out?

In my case, I fully accept that my situation is of my own making. After the crushing defeat at the battle of Aginbouldercourt where the person who told me that she was disappointed that I hadn't asked her to marry her on one of our anniversaries decided to skewer me, two weeks later, with thousands upon thousands of arrows launched from half-Korean bows (read: breaking up with me and leaving me in tiny, little pieces), leaving me broken and baffled. Honestly, who breaks up with someone two weeks after you just told them that you wanted to marry them? Honestly...

The point being that after that, I haven't much felt like wanting to ask anyone out much less date them, but I am curious about your situation. We've talked about it some here and there, but I find it hard to believe that it's entirely on the basis that men outnumber women around these neck of the woods.

You're missing the point - with a gender ratio imbalance like this, there aren't any single women to ask out!

Ah, see, I call shenanigans on that. Why? Because you and I *know*, right now, probably at least half a dozen single women. The fact that we might not be interested in some or all in that way or that some or all of them are not interested in us in that way cannot be helped but, to say we don't know any women who are single just ain't so!

Yes, the numbers skew things so that they may not entirely be in our favor is true, but like I said, if each of us know half a dozen single women (some of which are very likely to overlap so we don't, individually, know 12 single women, but you get my point), then it's not that there aren't any at all.

It's just that, for our own reasons -our personal preference or their personal preferences - we have or have been eliminated from consideration. Unfortunately, that narrows the field down in a competitive environment, but that would happen regardless of where you are with just varying degrees changing the pool of candidates, but not entirely eliminating them. Unless, of course, you can fine me a locale that has 0 single women b/c they are all taken and men outnumber women.

It may seem like I'm playing semantics, but while the odds are not in our favor, you can't possibly declare that 'there aren't any single women to ask out!'

I will e-mail it to you. I'm not sure people want their names splattered across lj just for me to prove a point. Or, maybe, for whatever reason, I'm not comfortable with the thought. No matter, I will just mail it.

I'm not surprised by the number of single women.

Keeping in mind, there is a very good reason why these women are single. The average woman from that part of the world (as far as I can recall from being a bitter 12 year old version of myself) is about as pleasurable to be around as a pit of vipers.

Yeah they will.. because with those ratios.. she'll have another guy on the side who will, in fact, beat you up. ;)

BRING IT ON! ;D

I'm a lot less worried about someone else starting a fight with me post-aikido. Generally speaking I feel like they'll be lucky to land a punch. Nice thing about a martial art that focuses on defense and disabling your opponent...
